Default Stock Timing Chain w/Dual Valve Springs

Any one snapped one before? I'm thinking about installing some dual valve springs and was wondering if my stock (89k miles) chain with a little 02 ls6 cam could handle the extra stress. It won't see more then 6500 rpms. Only installing for the extra seat pressure it provides as I run 15+psi.

Thanks

At 15+ psi you might want to go ahead and upgread to the ls2 chain. Just my two cents.

Yea LS2 chain for sure theyre on 45 bucks at thunder racing unless the price wnet up, i havent checked in a while.

One of my best friends has a stock bottom end ls1 with TRak cam and AFR 205 heads and it destroyed everything but the heads when he made the same mistake using a stock chain.

Maybe a dumb question, but do I have to drop the oil pan to swap the timing chain?

I've hit 7800rpm many times with stock timing chain and dual springs, I dont know how much more it will take before it takes a dump.

What size cam and mileage. Thanks for the info Llaverito. I might just do singles and keep the stock chain. Sucks to have to tear it all apart. Stock rods bolts as well on those 7800? I'm currently only running mine to 6.3-6.4

Yea, you have to pull the oil pump off to slide the chain out from behind it, which involves at least loosening the pan.

stock chains do break and they take the motor with them, 50 bucks for an upgraded brand new one is cheap insurance IMHO...
