Default Starter bolt hole broken

I found a 40000 mile 6.0L that I am thinking about buying, but the block where the outside starter bolt goes is cracked, and broken off, probably from sitting it on the floor instead of a tire. Everything else is perfect, it's pretty clean, it has all accessories, coils, injectors, intake, exhaust, and harness, for cheap. Is there any way to weld on a cast block to build it up, to re-drill/tap that starter bolt hole?

There's an article about fixing this very problem in the Oct. '11 issue of Car Craft magazine.
