2006 SS weighs in at a little under 4800lbs. mods in sig with a yank 3600. Spec me a cam that will scream on the street and be a monster on the spray. My commute is less than 10 miles both ways so I can go a little more radical. I plan on spraying around a 200 shot come springtime. I want to touch 12's N/A cam only. I want to go bigger than the cam I have now since I have so much converter. Im still waiting on replies from the major shops in the area as well as a couple tuners. Im curious as to what you guys would do...

I'm not sure what Wheatley's cam was exactly... but he accomplished exactly what you are talking about doing.
I don't know what makes a good nitrous cam, but for 12's NA in an LQ9 with that converter I would be thinking something along the lines of a mid-high 220's intake, and low 230 exhaust duration with a 4-6* split. Something like 226/230 on a 114 that will still have some manners, have enough low end power to scream with the 3600 converter, but also pull to 6500 RPM.
Frankly the cam in your sig doesn't sound bad to me... maybe a hair on the small side for consistent 12's, but with a good launch it will get you there. I have a much heavier truck, and a slightly smaller cam. I went 13.8 on a stock converter. Now take away about 500# compared to your 4800 race weight (is that with you in it? if not only a 350# difference), add a bad *** converter which alone could shave off .6, and slightly more cam and it sounds like a winner.

Zippy suggested something like a 228/240 with under .620 lift on a 114 I have 373's I have thought about switching but I think a 26" tire should do the trick instead. Currently not looking to do heads. Maybe mill mine some but that's still down the road

He also has an LQ4, so the 243 heads help make the compression more comparable to the LQ9. I think that's a great example of not needing too much cam to get the times you're after. Maybe a 228/232 if you're scared his cam isn't big enough...
