is that setup possible? I've got 2 spare dual timing chain setups from the old days, is it possible to switch my 2008 to a 3 bolt cam and use the old setup?

Yes u can use the three bolt cam gears but it has to have the 4x pickup for the cam sensor on the front cover that the 07+ motors have. I think the LS7 and LS9 kept the three bolt cam gear.

Oh wow the cam sensor moved too? Damn I'm way out of the loop... Why'd they have to go messing with ****, the early 2000s were so bad ***, 3 hour can swap and a couple pieces of dowel rod and you were good to go. Oh well.

Its still the same. The crank went from 24x to 58x reluctor wheel and the cam sensor moved into the timing cover. Oh yea and the knock sensors moved to the side of the block. But if you have a 07+ 5.3 with displacement on demand (DOD) you will need lifters and lifter trays as well. If you have a 6.0 or 6.2 then you have to deal with Variable Vavle Timing (VVT) and you need a ls2 valley cover and timing setup.
Check this out. You can thank iamkeniff^^^^ for this lol
