The ls1 style knock sensors don't really work on the sides of the block...you have to increase the sensitivity

For my lsx block no knock sensors are being used

I increased sensitivity and I am running them in "Engine Mode" vs "Cylinder Mode" Both EFILive and HPT let you select this mode but HPT does not provide access to the table(s) that need to be populated for it. EFILive shows the table for Engine Mode to be all 0's in my stock tune. Not sure how good this works, but it does pick up some knock here and there.

I do recall audible knock during street testing way back when I re-installed this engine and modified the fuel system...surge tank needed more venting for the big Magnafuel pump. Haven't heard anything since. But then there is a lot of other noise at WOT. Seemed to be running good last summer. Felt weaker this time out to the track...like I was down a cylinder or two.

Cylinders measure pretty round and straight at 4.13 +/- .001 with the +/- being at the bottoms. Measured in 4 directions at 3 depths.

Piston skirts measure 4.125 at widest dimensions.


Initially thought bore was less, but think I was misinterpreting the markings on this gauge.

Not all knock is auidible , if ever on dyno or track you'll see puffs of gray smoke is detonation
