simple rod bearing question
#1
My motor is a 210xxxodd mile 5.3 always had oil changes on time but never had a easy life. I sprayed the hell out of it for years. When ever i turboed it i noticed i wad having lower oil pressure around 15-20 at idel around 40 at wot. So i decided to pull it apart and do a stock volume high pressure pump and ls6 cam. I dropped the bolt for the pick up tube into the pan so had to drop the pan and thats were i noticed my problem. Seen aluminum chucks in the pan so i decided to check rods and i found 2 that seemed

I would be more interested to see how the mains look....LS engines have priority main oiling, and when you see low pressure it is usually the result of the mains. The rods will go shortly after the mains due to debris and the lower pressure.

Bearings are not aluminum.. Oil pressure issue would more than likely be the oil pump.. But replacing all the bearings and rings would be a good idea if you have it all torn apart.. Or just find you a 6.0..

If its mains im just gonna pull the motor and do a 6.0. The motor is still in the truck thats one reason why im hoping i can get away witg new rob bearings. But knowing my luck its probably main bearings

It was probably run low on oil at some point or your nitrous tune wasn't spot on.
As mentioned if the rod bearings are worn, likely the mains are too...
Would be cool to do bearings and a re-ring with a new oil pump and see how long it will last.
If the pistons are ok in mine I am going to give it a shot and see what happens.

Its had a 150 hit for about year and a half god knows how many bottles never had a problem with the tune. Never any knock or detonation. Plugs always looked good. Im just gonna assume it was a combination of a hard life and high miles i bought new rod bearings gonna try that and see how long it last. Either way i cannot complain ive abused the hell out of this 5.3
