Seriously..What CC dish do I need to get a comp ratio of 9.4-1 verification please
SubscribeI am going to try and get some pistons ordered up for this 370 I am doing.. I am going to run 72cc heads along with a stock thickness head gasket. Shooting for about 15psi... I need to fig what cc dish I need. I am coming up with about a 6.1-7 cc dish on the stock ones, would keep that since that is what a stock dish is on a lq4, comp ratio is about 9.4-1.. Thanks and if you have any info you would like to shed me, please do. I want to make sure this thing is right.. Thanks

a 10cc dish will yield you 9.344:1 a 9cc dish will get you 9.437. This is assuming stock head gasket, .010" out of the hole and 72 cc heads. Choose your poison.

That is good, now I need to get the stock head gasket compressed thickness.. I recall, but not 100% that it was 50k. Is this correct...

I would have no problem running 9.437.. I just gota make sure i get the dish right.. Correct me here also. The stock head gasket thickness is .051 correct.. Is that compressed or not.. This can really be a PITA. hahaha

The comp thickness of the stock gasket is .052. The other thing though John is I assumed that the pistons were .010 out of the hole. You should really measure though. My pistons were .013. The piston to deck height doesn't have as much of an effect though as the stroke, bore or piston cc dish. Play with the calc and you'll see

I have seen these truck motors go from .003-.015 out of the hole FYI. That's why GM runs such a thick head gasket. You can keep your quench area around .040
