S10 with 5.3 swap
Hey i'm swapping a 5.3 into my s10 and i'm going to beef the motor up a little. I've read around about the 5.3 on this forum and some others and I feel you guys know your **** the best. I will be running headers and true duals as of now but i would also like a cam. I'm not looking to go crazy with horespower i'm looking for around 300-350 to the wheels. From what i read this is pretty easily atainable with just a cam and tune.
So basically i guess the cam would be considered pretty mild because i'm not looking for that big of an increase. I was wondering if you guys had any recommendations of cams. Also this will be driven daily so should i be replacing springs or upgrading the timing chain because the motor has 35,000 miles and i'm not woried about trying to change it later on.

I've heard people using the Z06 springs would i be able to use these with that cam and a comp cams timing set would work well correct. I don't know if you guys have any suggestions as far as that stuff goes.

As light as an s10 would be, I'd go with somehting like a TR224 on a 114. That will give you decent street maners, have a nice idle, and perform good in the small motor/light truck.
If you want it dependable, I'd suggest 918's. I like the Rollmaster timing set too. It comes with a torrington bearing that sits against the cam plate.
