The ported heads will definitely compliment the cam choice. As a general rule, the larger the cam selection the better the ported heads will help. Your next bottleneck will be the stock plastic intake manifold. A number of guys have been switching to the Edelbrock Vic. Jr. intake but I haven't been able to establish a trend in performance increases yet although I personally believe that they'll make a significant difference.
