You don't need XER lobes to make all the power. Also you don't have to run a 224 since you can probly do better with a Cam suited for your heads, intake and exhaust setup. Also drivability shouldn't be forgotten. Some people don't mind alittle surging/bucking and some people hate it.

My exhaust is opened up as much as it can be, lt's- exc.. If i could find a chart on what these heads flow then I could figure out what I would need, but untill that since I am not really a cam expert I was just looking for some insite from people that have this cam, how they are liking it, so tha i could maybe get the happy medium.. Thanks for you help

Comparing the two lobes of our TR224 and the XER224, both are basically identical in ramp speeds. Power will be roughly the same. Less lift on our lobe, so just a tad easier on valvesprings. I'd run the Comp 918 with Ti retainers with either cam and one piece pushrods. Good luck!

I have a 224/581/114 with xer lobes in my 5.3 with a 3400 Fuddle stall and it has no problem running after a mail order Nelson tune and doesn't sound very lopey at all. I am pretty happy with it so far. It pulls much harder than it did with the factory cam and stall. So far I have dropped around .5 in the 1/4 and the drop will be more when I can get traction (with some HEAVY 18s on I had to feather the gas through the 330 ft).

Im running a 03 LQ9 with a Comp 224/224 .581/.581 112lsa, Comp 918s, TSP pushrods, and a TCI3000 converter. I couldn't be much happier with this setup. My vote goes for the .581 lift cam.
