Default oil pump priming

How do I prime my oil pump with the timing set installed? Ive tried turning the motor over with the plugs pulled and coils unplugged. I installed a new oil pump and im not getting any oil to rhe heads. Anybody have any answers? I dont have the whole pressure tank setup so I dont know what to do.

You can crank all you want with plugs out, no oil pressure is going to build. Ive tried this will a mechanical gauge hooked up, got nothing. Put the plugs back in and fire it up, if you did everything correct oil pressure will be instant.

Ya. Just fire it up and let idle. Pressure should take less than 3 seconds.

just hope you used some good engine assembly lube.
If you goin to crank it as soon as you get done with assembly we always used heavy gear oil .
It works.

I just did this today. My 05 does not show oil pressure while cranking, but my 99 does. After what I did today, I say to just fire it up and watch the gauge.
