Actually, the plug was forced out of the head by the broken piston pieces, the coil also broke and pushed out of the hole. The cylinder head threads for the spark plug are gone.
These Fords are common to see with blown out spark plugs. We use the TIME-SERT system to repair the head. This truck was towed in to have a TIME-SERT installed, but his problems are a little worse than that.
It's a 97 or 98 Ford Expedition, 5.4 liter.
Thanks for the FL weather update. Up here, we've been dealing with temps in the mid-teens with 40-75 mph winds, or no wind with temps between -10 and -30. I think we had about 2 days a while back that were pretty nice though. Temps were in the 20's and it snowed hard for a day and a half.

Yeah, this winter has been pretty ridiculous. We actually live in the banana belt of Alaska(as I call it). Winter temps are typically in the teens to mid twenties for most of the winter. Sure, we get the occasional 3-7 day cold smack dip below zero, and sometimes we get a day or two of high winds. But this winter has been the opposite of that. Just constant brutal cold temps and/or high winds. It sucks.
