I would say get some heads, you want things to work as a system, not have a crutch if your budget allows it, but thats just me and my old school mentality

i feel ya dog. lol. I just want to know what the hell i should do and how much it is gonna cost. I'm gonna try again to get in touch with Dez tomorrow. no luck today. I'm so tempted to just buy a complete 408 from futral and be done with it(other than the install and tuning). $8500 plus install and tuning is WAY out of my price range. WAY.

yup, saw those. I would hate to buy a new block though if it isn't necessary. I'm so motor illiterate. what does it take to make a shortblock into a longblock? looks like heads would be the biggest expense right? could i just buy the wcch heads and slap them on one of those 402's and be done?

I don't know how WCCH sells their heads. Are they bare or fully assembled. If fully assembled I would think, yes. Slap them on and go. Hardened push rods for good measure. I don't think those short blocks come with a cam so....and then a new oil pump and......Forever and ever.....

i have 4500 in my 408 short block. that includes a new block 400ish and all the machine work 450ish and of course the rotating assembly. cam is 300 or so and heads are anywhere from 1000 to 2500. so you can get by with around 5000 if you shop a little and do alot of work your self

Those are a pretty good deal on short blocks. if you bought one, you could slap on your factory heads and everything else, throw in a $350 cam, and be done with a hot new engine for under $4k Sell your factory 6.0l short block for $7-800 and you're in the budget ballpark
