Yeah you can make it work.Go to the top of the page and click on ls1 tech then go to conversions and hybrids, everything you need to know is there just search and find.My brother just put an iron ls1,4l60e in his 67 swb pretty easy swap.

I have one in my 68 SWB and I went with the painless harness. At the time it was the cheapest if you were going to purchase. The harness had everything and was labeled very well. I have my original and plan to convert it some time for my next install.
I had just made one for a TPI I had in my truck, the motor shot craps within a week or 2 of install so I was frustrated with messing with it so I just bought one.
Good luck.

you could also use a carb and there is a new piece that bolts to the front of the motor and you can use a ford distributer on it. seen it on horsepower tv. then you wouldn't really have any wireing to do.

John at Speartech can and will hook you up. I had him rework the factory harness for my 5.3 into 1969 C-10 conversion, and it was only $400 or $450 (can't remember). It's tested, and ready to go.

He had a two week turnaround time for my harness. Not bad, IMO.

I have heard nothing but good things about Speartech I would look at that pretty serious. John can get you fixed up.

Hi. My name is Gary Wright. I am with Painless Performance. Our 60217 harness will do the job. Plug it into the sensors and then you will have 3-4 wires you will need to mate to the factory chassis harness. Harness includes a fuel pump relay and enough wire to run to the back of most trucks for an intank fuel pump.

One thing to keep in mind. Our harness will be more expensive than a reworked factory harness or wrecking yard harness of questionable condition. But, you will get all new wire and connectors. We use the same OEM connector components as GM and the highest grade of automotive wire (TXL) available. Terminals are machine crimped on an Amp press to insure uniform retention. Each harness is then installed on a test board that checks continuity on every circuit before it goes in the box. We provide the best instructions in the industry and have a toll free tech line to help should you have questions or run into a problem. You can go to our web site and check out the instructions. Even download a pdf if you wish. Click on Installation Manuals under the TECHNICAL heading on the left hand column of the home page www.painlessperformance.com

Any questions?

Well you could mess around with a distributor, but it might be easier to use the MSD 6010 box. That's what I'm running on my 5.3 and it works great! For a daily driver though, I'd definitely go with fuel injection.
