Default n/a or boost?

hey everyone i had a few quick questions about an aspiration change. before i plan anything out any further i figured id get some opinions. ive always been an all motor guy but im starting to want to experiment with boost lol. ive got a 2001 silverado with a 4.8 in it, its a full bolt on truck with a pretty healthy cam, custom tune and has a fully built drivetrain.

my orignal plan was get rid of my 862's and go for a set of prc stg 2.5 heads as well as yella terra rockers, but now im kindve stuck since i cant debate wether i want to stay n/a or go f/i. the prc's come with two options for combustion chamber size, 58 and if i remember a 63? i was going to choose the 58, get a thinner set of headgaskets, and depending on PTV clearance get the heads milled down further for more compression, and if i really needed to, fly cut the pistons. but now im thinking mabey i should go with the larger CC and slap a d1sc on it? ive got a little time to think about it but before this truck goes in storage for winter id like to have my plan set, and hopefully parts in hand. i saw a write up on ls1tech about a member using the 228R cam on a 112lsa with boost and he put some damn impressive numbers down and it made me rethink things.

in honest opinion what do you think the best route? i know theres pros n cons to each aspiration but im stuck being indecisive lol

thanks

t.j.

Boost it and call it good. Good luck with the build either way

We can set those cylinder heads up to go anywhere between 63cc and 58cc, depending on what you are looking for. But I think a procharger with your setup would be the best route as well...

thanks for the help guys, i appreciate it. if i do end up going boosted its definitley gonna be a whole new ballgame to me, every build ive done has been all motor but i think it may be time to convert lol. as for boost im sure i wont regret it if i do go that route, and when this motor does finally pop ive got my eyes set on a shortblock id really like to build. and jake i figured if i did go with a HC build id get the 58s and have them milled a little to increase compression a little more, the only thing that scares me is PTV clearance. how far do you think i could mill them without running into any issues/without having to fly cut the pistons? im running the TSP228R on a 112lsa
