Really fellas, telling him to install that is bad advice. It won't make good power (too much cam for the heads), won't idle, won't move without a strip converter, and is a huge waste of time for something we *know* is too big.

I just thought back to all the issues I intially had trying to get mine to idle, and my cam is no where near as agressive. You guys are saying he should just throw it in for ***** and giggles. The labor is easy, but unless he is very versed with his tuning software that thing will be surging and stalling at every light, stop sign and crosswalk. There's a lot more to it than just raising the idle and IAC values. Depending on what year PCM he has it will even have a hard time starting. That might be fine for a stip only truck. It'll take a few iterations from a mail order tuner to get it close let alone right. But until then he'll be driving around using both feet and/or having the TB blade cracked so it won't surge.

Hey man, just call your tuner and tell him what cam you want to run. That will tell you all the info you need.

I see... What im looking to do is build a fast 4.8l... I just wanna see what I can get outta it.... I plan on upgrading the valvetrain... and just having the truck as a weekend driver... Over all... I want it to be fast as hell but still be able to drive it around occationally... I am going to buy a set of 6.0L heads and have em worked as well.. to go with whatever cam I do get..
