Default ls2 chain dampner in gen 4 iron 5.3

Hey guys ive almost got every part needed to do my vvt cam swap in my 2011 rado
I just want to check if I need to use the tfs ls2 chain dampner adapter
Are these block already drilled n taped to just bolt the stock ls2 dampner or do I need this adapter I dont want to tap into the block as it is still gonna be in the truck with rotating assemlby and all

I didnt. 88k miles and going on factory tensioner. If you do want to put it in you need to pull the oil pump to be able to acess the bolts.

Crap, I wanted to use the ls2 dampner and not touch the oil pump ive already gone thru a no oil pressure pain in a buddies lq4 cuz of those dam oil pump o rings
So could u have used a ls2 dampner if u wanted to ? Where the bolts holes there?

The block already has the threaded holes, but you will need to move the oil pump to install it. I prefer the LS2 wedge style damper to the other type. Too many reports of the other ones coming apart for me to take a chance.

Pfft who needs a chain dampner. Early ls motors dont even have them lol.

Hahah thanks guys yea a buddies 01 vette didnt even have one but the lq4 had the holes for em
Do either of u know or know how I can find out which (correct) oil pickup tube o ring I need ? Put the wrong one on that vette pita

I believe its a green o ring for the trucks. Dont know, we ordered one from gm and they sent us a red one. Called them and said that was the right one.

I know what oriellys would say " ok sir we have the red , green and blue oring which one would u like?" They might even throw in "well it really dosnt matter which one u get they are all the same"
