used to be the connecting rods were slightly different, but as of 05 I think they all used the LS2 style conrod.

Some LQ4's had iron heads and a longer crankshaft. I also found that at one point GM stuffed the same 5.3L/4.8L camshaft into the early LQ4's which kinda pisses me off but oh well. Now the LQ9 has a higher lift on the intake side of the cam to help it breathe better up top.

if you buy a 6.0 block, rip the head off and see,
a flat top piston it is an LQ9.
a dish piston then it is an LQ4.

Heads are the same, cam I believe is slightly different and not worth worrying about. Rods were different up till 05' like Moregrip said.
Pistons are dished on LQ4 and Flat top on LQ9

The early 99-00's are the ones that came w/ iron heads and longer crank shaft flange. Steer clear of them.

Never heard of the LQ4 getting a 4.8/5.3 crank.

Arn't the lq9 pistons a little stronger as well? Or is that just unproved forum talk?

also, i know nitrous likes high comp ratios and boost likes low, wont nitrous be okay on a lq4 since its not that low of a comp ratio?
