lq4 engine build?
#1
I have a 2001 c3 with the lq4 awd. I was thinking of 5.3 heads p&p with a 233/239, .595/.603 @ 112 LSA cam. Maybe an Intake man. and spray a little 125 or 150 shot. For sure lt's (lpp's) and a cai(probably k&n or similar).
any input would be helpful. What do you think I should change head cam ect. what should I do for a tranny just go to an 80e? I will have a stall but what about a trans break? can the drive train handle it xfer case front end ect.? I guess if you had my truck what would you do on a 7000 dollar budget still going to be my dd and want to stay n/a with maybe n2o.
so what do you think lol sorry for all the gray area. I have been lurking for awhile and finally have a budget and just want a quik reliable truck?

welcome from another c3 owner. It all depends on what you are looking for. It you are staying na I would suggest something like the TR224 on a 114 lsa. some 243 heads to bump your compression up. And a built tranny. I'm going with the level 3 4L60e from performabuilt. and a yank tt3000 stall converter would do nicely.
ps show us your ride.

my truck is the tan met. color all stock I dont even have any pics of it(could get some if you really want to see it) what kind of hp tq numbers would I have with either of the combos(tvs or cam ect) and what kind of 1/4 times. I want to keep it as a very streetable combo what ever that may be. I might take it to the local 1/4 track other than that just a fun street truck. Keeping my truck reliable could I run 12's for my budget? 13s? 11s? I see alot of turbo and supercharged guys but with 7k could I do either and keep my truck reliable? trans and drivetrain staying together?

With a 7k budget you cant do to much. Going busted is always fun. check out the for sale section. there are always some superchargers for sale at some great prices. If you go boosted the cam that I would recommend is the lingenfelter GT2-3 or the GT7. I have a Magnacharger MP112. It is a complete kit, minus fuel pump and tune. If you would like it pm me. We could work something out.

If you're going boosted I'd get a stronger torque converter than the Yank TT series, go either with their billet series or something indestructible from CircleD. Might want to consider a 4L80E swap also, not sure how long even the strongest 4L65E will last behind a boosted 6.0.

If you shop smart, you can get where you want to be and still be within your budget. Right now there a couple of 112 Magnacharger's on the Silverado SS site in the $3000 to $3500 dollar range. One of them, a good converter and a built transmission will exhaust your budget, but is still doable.
