Default lookin for more torque based setup

ok first off i have a 03 lq4. the only thing i have done to it is a tbss intake w/ 90mm tb, tr220 cam, 44lb/hr injectors, 7.4 hardened push rods, comp cam valve springs (920s i think), lt headers, and custom dual exhuast. this setup put down 380rwhp and 380ftlbs through a t56 with 3.73s. i have since changed the gears to 4.56, but dont have any numbers yet.

the parts i currently have on hand are a ls2 double roller timing chain, lq9 pistons and rods, ms4 cam. after talking with some people on here im gonna sell the ms4 and have a custom ground done up for me.

so here is my plan. i plan to get a set of stock 243's and use stock head gaskets along with the lq9 pistions to put me at almost 11:1. now the part i havent figured out is what kind of specs should i set the cam up for, and should i do anything different on the way i am setting up this motor?

If you like I have some TEA heads that might be a little better suited than just some stock 243s. They are the 5.3 stage 1.5s. I think they would be awesome, if you are getting ready to do a head swap why not replace the cam with one that was spec'd for your compression and etc. Just a thought

i have just started getting the whole game plan together for this, so i dont really know whats what.

i do know that the 317s have a 72cc chamber and the 243s have a 64cc chamber. so that will bring my compression up which should be a step in the direction i wanna go.

by the way, will 5.3 heads fit on a 6.0? and would they flow like the 243s? down the road i would probably have the heads worked but right now i could get a set close to $450 new, and i know they flow roughly the same as the 317s if not better.

The 243s are awesome heads but if you could stand to be down why not have your 317s milled? The 317s and 243s are very similar except for combustion chamber size

What kind of numbers are you expecting out of your combo? Wanting to hit the 400RWTQ mark? You're on the right track. High compression, good flowing heads and a MILD cam will get you there. With your gearing, and all other things considered I would go with a 224-226ish duration cam with a high lift and a low LSA. PM me for some more info

i would like to build my setup to reach around 450/450 if possible, and i want to do it all on motor, no power adders.

you would have to mill 72cc 317s .045-.050 to reach 64cc chambers of the 243s. he could buy 243s for 400-500 and sell his 317s for a couple hundred bucks. spend 50-100 and mill the 243s and get his compression up even higher if he pleases to.

I don't see this happening with LS6 heads or any cathederal port for that matter. If you did attain those numbers, I believe your average power curves would suck. It would be real "pipey" and only pull hard above 4500. I would shoot for the most average power. You have a great setup now, if anything I would maybe step up to some L92's along with a matching intake, but now your compression will go to **** because of the large combustion chambers.

If you want to keep your current heads and intake, I would entertain possibly a single pattern 226 duration cam on XER lobes with a 110LSA and installed straight up. A 6.0L though isn't a big motor by any means, anything larger for cam and you're going to need more cubes. Otherwise your power curve is going to shift too high and it won't drive nice enough for a truck.
