Default Lifter Carnage

Not sure what the cause was, but here is the aftermath.
Cam was a 238/255 .624/.624 on a 114+4 using Comp's LSR lobes.
Lunati dual springs and LS7 lifters.

That's what those high lift cams and stiff springs will do. You need some really good lifters for that.

I think there must be a bad batch of these LS7 lifters floating around. I had one or two that collapsed, another guy on here had the whole bucket get destroyed, and another guy as well was/is having issues with his LS7 lifters.

I had an LS7 collapse on me with just the triple 12 cam and 165a springs.

LS7 = OEM

Aftermarket build = Morel or Lunati

nuff said, went to a well known builder when i built my first 410 they wanted to use LS7 lifters when all other parts were top of the line, go figure i went somewhere else, ended up using morel

specially when turning over 7K rpms when using aggressive other parts

I hate to say welcome to the club, I have the same picture. I originally thought it was just my luck and had a lifter fail. Once I got the whole motor apart I found the double roller time chain was cutting into the Melling Hi-Volume oil pump. I can only assume the filings from the pump caused the lifter to fail. Fortunately the builder took responsibility for the mismatched parts and covered the majority of the rebuild.

That happened 11 months ago and my truck is finally ready to start again this week.

That's complete garbage then. I have those running with 100k + mile truck lifters. What broke roller or did plunger assembly fail?

I've had the oem truck lifter in all my builds with zero problems. Always been a little leery of the price of the ls7's. Good deal but kinda smells like china.

Aren't LS7 lifters also the stock replacement lifters now ? That's what I was told when I bought mine , they have been working fine for 3+ years now , but I don't have a huge cam .
