Default Labor costs question

I am getting some patriot heads and a 02' Z06 cam put on my 02 Denali SUV 6.0L. I was wondering what you guys would say a fair labor price would be to do the engine mod. Also would I be stupid if I were to want to do the bottom end, pistons and rods? I want to make my engine bulletproof, well actually boost proof, to some extent. Not looking to get into the 10's or even low 11's but I just dont want anything to happen to the motor if I wanna turn up the boost.

I dont have a turbo yet, but I am in the army and a budget means a budget so I figured I would get the ground work laid out first and then the easy part... adding the turbo.

Any suggestions as far as the heads/cam/pistons/rods or anything else down there I might need? I am looking for the most strength and reliability. I really beat the **** out of my vehicles so whatever I put in there has to be able to take a beating.

Thanks for the help.

BTW. the initial estimate for just labor for the install of the heads/cam is $1600. And probably in the neighborhood of $2G for the bottom end labor.

I paid $650 to have heads and cam installed within the last 9 months or so. Shops that quote by the GM shop manual say about 20-22 hours combined, at least that was my experience. I 'lucked out' and found a guy who charged a flat rate.

From what I have seen on here, you could safely run 5 - 8 psi on stock bottom end. With that said, I would run boost and not worry about heads. Cam, maybe.

ok i guess i should have put in my original post that i dont wanna just SLAP FI on my truck. I want to beat the living **** out of it and have it be a low low 12 second truck consistently and have it never break. dreaming..?? well maybe but i am willing to spend the money to make it so...

so you think that price is way to much or??

For $1600 you should be able to get a complete motor swap.
