I was going to use the gravity method but I couldn't figure out an easy way to hang my truck upside down.
I didn't use air or anything either and all but one stayed up. 1slow01z71 thought I was crazy when I couldn't get it back up with a pen magnet. I slowly rotated the engine and let the piston push it up. It was a gamble but it worked. Note to self: use air line in the cyl next time. The bad thing was I had the adapter to air up the cyl, I was just too lazy

The only way to change valve springs in an LS1, IMHO. Crane Cams style valve spring compressor, and compressed air. I just swapped out all 16 in about 30 minutes. No problems.
