There's not an abundance of information on yea or nay as far as gaskets. It's a gen3 motor so I won't be able to make much over 600. Just trying to see what everyone else has done. I know everyone who does HG does ls9 ones. Whos running studs? Or new TTY bolts?

What size motor?

My Junk yard 6.0 has LS9 gaskets and ARP head studs.

Its a 4.8, sorry I should have added that. Should also add it's a 194xxx mile motor so the rings should be gapped adequately lol.

Leave it as is if the heads haven't been touched yet. It'll just cost you more money and time to replace the gaskets when they are more than capable of running a turbo at that 500whp level.

Studs have their place but that power level isn't going to make regular TTY bolts obsolete.

Thanks man. I think I've seen your name on hptuners forum or ls1tech and you're always answering stuff. I hate making a new thread so don't think I haven't tried to find this info.

I like to think about it like this sometimes. Look at all the companies that sell bolt on procharger kits or supercharger kits. Most of them will easily add 100-200whp over stock in several applications. With the right tuning and fuel those engine could run for 100k miles without skipping a beat. And you also have factory LS9 engines that run regular TTY bolts and they make over 550hp right off the assembly line.

Sure there might be an old failure here or there but the likely-hood of a head gasket popping with a 450-500hp turbo kit is pretty low.

Fair enough. Well, I'm gonna give it hell then. I've got massive injectors and I'm still debating single or dual 450s. So I guess we'll see if I can make 600whp or not. I'll be disappointed if I don't put down at least 5-550.

Can I ask the reason for 900lph worth of pumps and bucket size injectors?

Because I plan on more power down the road. And I would also like to be able to use e85 if it becomes more easily available in the area. End goal is 800+. So gen 4 rods on a better piston and a decently built 4l80 would be the only changes down the road

That's not true. I took the 100K mile plus LQ4 in my turbo truck apart and there still fairly tight considering. The rings don't wear as much as most people think. If I recall the top ring was still .016. even after a light ball hone.

I bent 2 rods in the direction of the wrist pin which damaged the bottom side of the piston when it kissed the counter weight at the parting line. I decided since there is no sign of detonation and it appears to be running clean, I would just slap it back together with 2 replacement pistons and rods and re-use the rings and bearings in there respective holes.

Block had to come out for cam bearings any way so it got a light ball hone in all the holes as well
