I bent 2 rods in the direction of the wrist pin which damaged the bottom side of the piston when it kissed the counter weight at the parting line. I decided since there is no sign of detonation and it appears to be running clean, I would just slap it back together with 2 replacement pistons and rods and re-use the rings and bearings in there respective holes.

Block had to come out for cam bearings any way so it got a light ball hone in all the holes as well
So much work when it was just fine when it left here

On 4PSI that barely made a difference...

Actually #2 and #4 cam bearings had the lube holes blocked. Was also starving the lifters.

It has new cam bearings, a new baby cam, new lifters, and some yellow springs now...

You could buy it back and let it sit at your place...

You guys are ridiculous. Since there's an audience, y'all change timing chains when you do a cam swap on a high mileage motor or let her eat?

Some do , Some don't.

I did, and typically do replace it with a new one just for peace of mind.

The HD Chain through GM #12646386
or an IWIS one through vendors #3SR602PS

That's easy enough! I didn't know they sold just the chain, so I'll definitely pick one up.

You're kidding right? A new chain on worn gears?
