yes , its the new LQ4 engine for the GMT900

there some guys here and on LS1tech that have the stock bottom with 1000~HP

but most Iv seen are less the 5,000lbs , I know the burb is at least 1000lbs more , so there is quite a bit more load on the engine and trans but 800 on the flywheel is nothing to worry about

there is a member in here with an 08 Yukon denali with rods and pistons that have 850 flywheel HP with 14lbs+ of boost with a whipple 2300 on 8.8:1 CR

so I think you will be fine if you went with a lower CR motor like the LY6 and boosting it with a turbo will be much easier than dealing with belts and pulleys to handel the slip issues

Ok I found a LY6 local to me.. its out of 2008 Chevy Express 2500
6.0L (VIN K, 8th digit opt LY6)
Condition: 55K miles ..
$2181.00

Is there anything else I should do to this engine before I install it? I heard I should remove the VVT?

Thompson Motorsports » Online Store

Just showing you some other options for about the same money.

I have a friend with a 02 4th gen. Has a 370 w/ a f1r pro charger and a 4l80e putting down ~900. Running the stock crank for a few years now.

I personally would run a boost cam, bump the boost, and run it. Good increase in power and not making your budget snowball. Mileage doesnt scare me at all with these engines. But if more cubes is what you want, I think a 370 is a better way to go to hit your number.

Sweet thanks for the link! Did your friend put forged internals in his? I heard the crank can handle a lot of power but wasnt sure if the pistons and rods could.. I'll lool into the 370 as well, I just want to make sure its a direct replacement for mounts and accessories..

I'd actually build almost exactly what they did in that link. Or have built, I should say.

Ill find out what rods are in the 370. Nothing expensive, I'd guess eagle or Callie compstars. I think they ran wiseco pistons.

Use a gen IV block and a 58 tooth reluctor wheel crank, shouldn't be a problem to drop it in.

If budget allows, aftermarket.

If not, the top end off that ly6. The 799s and intake you have will sell for a good part of the cost.
