I have ____ and I want _____
Alright, I have a iron block 6.0. It has 2003 LQ9 rotating assembly. I figure I want to do this motor once and be done with it and get what I want out of it originally, doing all the work on the engine stand. I am thinking I want a little more displacement out of it.
If I bored it .030 would I need an entirely new rotating assembly?
If so, would it make more sense to straight up go 408?
I want good naturally aspirated power and then I intend to spray on top of that. I will probably mill the heads down a little more to give me in the realm of 10.8:1 compression or thereabouts.
I came about this short block by chance for pretty cheap, it had been sitting out for a few weeks (coverred with plastic) and the cylinder walls have a bit of rust on them, I used some scotch bright and got nearly all of it out after tearing it down to bare block. I was thinking that I would at least give it a little freshening up but I dont know how to hone or have the cylinders machined to where I wouldnt need new pistons etc etc (if i decided not to bore it out) would this be possible?
note** the motor came with LQ4 internals but I just bought an LQ9 rotating assembly so its in excellent condition.
Sorry if some of the questions are quite newbish. I would like to do this right the first time.

edit- I did some extra searching and caught a thread about going with a 4.050 over bore with the stock crank and some forged rods and pistons for a 370?

so I would need some pistons for a 4.030 bore I assume. How many cubes would this yield me? For the cost of the machining, would it be better to go bigger because the cost of the pistons is going to be relatively the same or what?

If I was to go with a 408, would I be able to use my stock crank, or would I have to get a new one? I would like to use my stock crank for the record.
How much would I have to bore to get a 383 or close to?

alright, well then looks like I will just bore everything out, get new pistons, probably rods too and see what kind of displacement I can safely achieve.
edit: what is stock stroke?
