He is talkin about my old 5.3...
Got to thinking about all the small stuff and it did add up a bit more than we were thinking.
After lookin around i think we are goin to stick with the 4.8 from Cody.
If all else fails we can put my Throttle Body Spacer on there for them special times.
Also goin with a TH350 and ~2000 stall. Nothing major cause its his DD.
Not exactly sure about the rear Diff, but Locker or spool is goin in for sure. Ive seen the stock rear on a older toyota with just a Lockrite diff go high 11s? on slicks behind a stout sbc 355ci. so they are pretty strong for a light weight.
Also goin with Efans and the other small stuff.
Got to look at the gear ratios in the TH350 and the rear diff and depends on what size tires he is goin to run we might have to put higher gears in it. Stock is 4.56s? its got a 22re/5sp at the moment.

So here is what ive been tryin to figure up,
This is goin to be his Budget DD, so keep Gas mileage in mind.
4.8 with cam..(still lurking for a fun cam)
TH350 1500-2000 stall
3.54 gears
30" tires
Goin with 2wd for now to keep it in the budget, Later we might find a TCase and get a front DS.
Motor Mounts are easy.
Stickin with Stock Exhaust manifolds and some kinda wicked custom exhaust
Some kinda radiator? got to get some measurements... and Efans
Truck should weigh 2800lbs, would like to get 300rwhp. But 250-275 is acceptable
30" tire 4.56 gears TH350 (1st 2.52- 2nd 1.52- 3rd 1)
Not taking TC slip into consideration.
6200redline 1-2 48mph 2-3 80mph 3rd 121mph
55mph 2800rpms
70mph 3600rpms... eek..
30" tire 3.54 gears TH350 (1st 2.52- 2nd 1.52- 3rd 1)
Not taking TC slip into consideration.
6200redline 1-2 62mph 2-3 103mph Top speed in 3rd 156mph
55mph 2200rpms
70mph 2800rpms

Well I have a LQ9 with stage 2 heads and cam that was originally for my truck, that I been thinkin about putting in my Jeep wrangler with a 5 speed, the conversion kit cost me about 1200 for the mounts, radiator, and adapter to the transmission. I Believe it might be to much motor for the Jeep and stick with a mild 5.3L I have in my other corner.

Im also looking for a good decently priced cam. I will be going with around 2300 stall and want it to be somewhat of a mid to topend cam but still be decently streetable considering its a dd... and of course a real nice choppy idle... im sure someone can point me in the right direction as far as cam specs
