Default Help with my noise please!!

Hey all! I recently developed a noise and I have no idea what it could be. It happens only when I'm driving and only occurs right around the 3-4 shift and only when I'm just daily driving. If I get on it when the noise starts to occur, it goes away immediately. Any moderate to heavy throttle and it doesn't occur. The sound is hard to describe but like a low-medium frequency howl/vibration (don't feel a vib with the sound though), seems to be coming from the front and has gotten progressively worse. It first started shortly after I had the converter installed and tuned. It was done at HPE so I'm pretty sure they did it correctly. For about the first 3-4 days after the tune and vertor install no noise. I installed the Yella rockers and shortly after that it began. I have great oil pressure and no performance loss. It sounded to me at first like the serpentine was slipping around the tensioner so I replaced both belts with no success in noise reduction. The stall, tune and rockers are the only recent mods and prior to that, 30K miles and no noise. Someone please help! All ideas/opinions are wanted!!

On the way home from work this morning my trans temp gauge went almost to the red and I got a "transmission hot" message in my information center. Thought the noise might be transmission related but what specifically could it be? No one has any input??

something is definatly wrong if you pegged out the trans temp guage. have you checked the fluid? does it act wierd other than the noise?

I checked the fluid and the level is fine. It doesn't act wierd at all! No slipping or sloppy shifting. What would it sound/act like if my converter was going bad?

Didn't even think about the pump...How would I know? Not a transmission expert at all!! Thanks!

convertor shudder usually feels like going over a cattle crossing. your concern sounds like a convertor problem.

Would a bad converter, or one that is going bad, cause the transmission to overheat?

converter can make it overheat, and if the pump was broke i dought it would even drive. could the tranny cooler lines be hooked up backwards? i have no idea if that would cause a problem but you never know.

The lines are correct. What are some reasons the trans would drive characteristically fine but after about 30-40 minutes of driving, start to overheat???
