Default Help me build my motor

So Im going to go ahead and have the 370 built while Im healing. I know I need a 4.030 piston and would like to get forged rods as well. What pistons and rods should I go for??? What about bearings?? What rings?? Ive got ARP rod bolts. What else is needed??What needs to be done to the block other than boring?? What should I expect to pay in labor to bore and put it together?? Id like this to be the last motor I do so I dont want to skimp.

SDPC a site sponsor had some 402 shortblocks on special for just under $3700,that's probably cheaper than you can build a 370 shortblock for.

Why even bother boring it if the cylinder walls are nice just get it honed. All the big names make stock dimensioned forged rods pretty much take your pick.Diamond, JE, etc make any kind of piston you want. Rings DONT get JE Rings they SUCK. Here is my thread from tech on rings https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthrea...highlight=ring
Whatever rods you get they will come with ARP bolts already so sell the rod bolts to help with cost. Rods/pistons/rings/bearings=~2K unassembled when buying seperately. You can get a forged stroker rotating assembly for a little under 3K if you look hard enough. Food for thought

You dont think getting the extra cubes is worth it? Whats the difference in cost? $200 I would think. What rings should I go for?? Rods are 6.125 correct?? What should I expect to pay for machine work and assembly? Maybe I should think about selling the 6.0 shortblock and go for the SDPC 402? What do bearings run typically?? Are they neccessary? I was thinking $650 for pistons, $500 for rods, unless I can get some used, and $150 for rings. Add $800 in labor??Id like to keep it as reasonable as possible as Im buying a new house as well.

Are rods for a 370 6.125 or 6.098???
I was looking at these from Diamond 126-11515 here http://www.thunderracing.com/catalog...vid=9&pcid=121
Where should I look for rods?? Should I just go with a set of LQ9 rods? I plan on seeing 15# occasionally but 10# or less 99% of the time.

You're probably fine with the LQ9 rods at a max of 15psi, but if you're tearing into anyway... BTW, I did my 408 for less than $3700 (I believe it was $3000 or 3200, but it was over a year ago).

For 15psi, you don't need to drop the CR much -- maybe to 9.5:1. I don't think 6ci is worth much-- if the cylinders are nice, I'd probably just hone unless you are going big ci anyway.

For what its worth Troy, my 347 feels just as strong as the 370 did. It does spool about 200 rpms higher though, which is hardly noticeable.

So what dish would be good? LQ9 rods it is. Do bearings need to be upgraded? If so what do I get?
