I never said a ton of work, I just said more work.

If he doesn't want to go boost no matter how much power he can make with a turbo it won't change his mind.

11:1 with boost, ok.... So the guy is dead set against boost, and now you are going to add the complexity of an alcohol injection system, or maybe limit his radius of travel to his local e85 pump. I don't think that he would find your argument very appealling.

As one of 2 owners of a 408 in this thread (a 3rd former owner is in here as well)

I highly regret building the motor I did. If I had built a stock motor and procharged it, my Z06 would be doing hot laps right now, for less than the 11k I have wrapped up in a motor that hits on 4cyls

So yeah, I am in the SBE and boost camp

My Tahoe will walk a lot things, with its SBE, TTY bolts and 12psi from a D1. Know what that D1 cost me? ~$2800. Guess what it makes on the dyno? a smidge more than 500

Do you know what I hope to hit with my $11k 408? 500rwhp

So yeah, a 200k mi 5.3 with a $2800 blower and my tuner at the controls makes more power than some NA pipe dream I had, and for 1/4 the money

Boost all day

Obviously because that specific addition I included is for if he wanted to go boost AFTER the fact. Not sure why he would include a meth injection or e85 to a stroker motor lol

Now you are assuming the OP does not want to go boost based on complexity reasons which we could argue all day long which is more complex stroker motor build or boost build but we won't get into that here. Personally I believe they each have their own intricacies and should not even be compared.

You are the one that suggested to build the motor and then maybe add boost later.

Negative not what I said. I just said it would be easier to do that. I’m not saying OP should boost I’m just saying it is simpler to add boost after the fact in comparison to add cubes after the fact. I’m not suggesting he do anything except for what he wants to do. (Although I do think 40Xs are badass and I have a soft spot for NA so I’d like to see him try it)

Building a high compression motor for mostly daily use makes no sense. Modding a stockish motor with boost makes all the sense in the world. You will get reliability and somewhat decent gas mileage and when you want to play the power is right there. of course everyone here is different so I say build what you want, chase that dream.

Another 408 owner checking in.
save the money from building a 408 and boost what you have.
Yeah my motor makes some power NA and is alot of fun BUT if I went boost I would make more power, would have been cheaper and I wouldn't have to put new pistons in every second season.

I should have been more specific truck is a daily now but once engine is done I will be partial daily because I have another truck. I do agree but reason behind doing a 402 is mainly Becauae i don't have a complete engine right now i have a bare gen 4 but so my options there
