Default heads/cam matching

how do you match a cam to a set of heads

lookin at afr205s and a tr220 on 114

are these matched closely or how do you match a heads and cam package

i understand it involves looking at flow numbers from each but i dont know how to read them

afr225s are too big for a N/A/nitrous 6.0 arent they

I always try to hit the best flowing lift number of the head twice in one revolution of the cam. In other words, if the heads hit max flow at .600 I go a little beyond (say .610) in lift so that it hits max flow on the way to peak cam lift, and then on the way back down.

What I try to avoid is a cam that lifts .650 on a head that flows best at .550 and is in the crapper at .650.

Some experst to chat with on this: Richard at WCCH, Roger Vinci at VHP.

thanks for the explanation

so i look and see what the max flow of the heads are at .050 and match that to the lift of the cam at .050 (with a little more as you said)?

or am i way off base?

anyone, feel free to post comments or suggestions
