better let someone qualified install that flexplate, b/c the oil pan, rockers, and wiring "in the way" sure caused you some headaches

Yeah but if they didn't have the Under Engine FUBAR they may not have noticed the cracked flexplate,

so I guess in some stupid way it worked out..
