I seen this over on ls1tech. motor is nuts. and i totally agree on the tq deal. its still making a lot, it would still pull away from a stop just fine. not like an rx8 thats got 10 ft lbs at 3k rpm.. J/k. its just the top end is so great it makes the bottom end look bad.
you guys need to open up a SAM in the north east. Id love to go there, its just texas is a little far with a full time job haha

You guys need to understand this is for a 2500 lb race car. If they wanted to build a torquey truck motor i am sure they could probably build one better than almost anybody on this board. A 6000 rpm max torquey motor isn't going to do anything in that car. You need to look at the purpose behind it. Low rpm torque means almost nothing in a car like that, so why waste the top end hp for something you don't need. Nascar engines have nothing below 5000 rpm, you think its because they don't know much about what they are doing?
Bottom end power means very little in a race engine like this. Although you do want to push the peak torque higher and carry it as long as possible to keep making power up top. Peak power occurs at the point when torque is falling off faster than the RPMs are climbing. As mentioned, this engine is only going to see 8,000-10,000 RPM all day anyways, no where near peak torque.
The Camaro is going to have to weigh in at 3500lbs for the LSX Shootout in the 440ci class with a manual transmission.
Also as mentioned, it was running dual 2000cfm Holley billet throttle bodies, not carburetors.

Sorry I jusy saw the two throttle bodies, and it just looked similar to his old engine. I raced him back when his car was still IRS on nitrous in Columbus. www.racesupercars.com I think there are pics. The engine here is very impressive! Cheers
