Default Good cam for an auto rcsb.

I'm trying to help my buddy find a good cam for his 04 4.8 rcsb silverado.

yeah we know about the 6.0 swap but thats just not feasible here at this time (we are stationed in hawaii) so knock that **** off.

Anyway. His is an a4 4.8 and he wants more low end torque.

I'm thinking the 212/218 @112 would be a good choice. He likes the ls6 cam too because of the power gain for the price but he doesn't like the idle of them. He wants a cam idle.

What do you guys suggest and ease of tunning is a plus as well.

ps. The LTs and custom magnaflow exhaust goes on next week.

+1 for the 212/218 sounds awesome and makes real good power in the 4.8

I have a similar cam (low lift version) in my 6.0L and it is a little soft on the low end (mind you, mine is a crew cab and 4x4 with a 4L80E = heavysomebitch ). At 2000 rpms it will start taking off pretty good, by 3000 it is screaming. My only mods are LTs, Gibson and AFE with the cam. In a 4.8L, that cam will be bigger, like a 222 I'd say. If he wants great low end, he will have to sacrifice the idle sound, and vice versa. A 114+ will give him better low end torque, and better torque throughout the power band. If he is just looking for peak numbers and a lopey idle, that would be a good choice, it does work great with a stock converter. As for tuning, that cam will be a breeze ... it may not even require tuning in some cases, to drive around.
