alright motor guru's I need some info for a friend, he used to have an 04-05 and ordered and forged 427 shortblock for it, well shortly after he bought it he sold his truck, so now he got him a 08 RCSB with a 5.3, I need to know if the 427 would be a direct swap for his new truck? if not, what all does he need...
thanks for the help?

The new truck motors come with the cam sensor up front now. You can pull the stuff off the motor coming out, including all the other sensors, or purchase at your local GM parts counter. Just make sure you use the sensors for that year truck.
Also, wasn't GM changing over to a new single (big) cam bolt... as opposed to the 3 smaller ones that used to hold the sprocket to the cam? If thats the case then you will need to get cam sprocket 12586481 for use on aftermarket cams... yet still have the 4X trigger. Below is a picture of it on the right. The one on the left is the earlier LS2 vintage.
