really didnt find any race team related info about what or why

what I found is that the fluidamper isnt trusted as much as the ATI

most would go with ATI just for that reason

also , I have been looking at alot of high HP pojects on LS motors , I have yet never seen one with a fluidamper . 90% have the ATI and 10% run the stocker

Im not reving my engine to the moon , I just want a safe 6500-6800rpm capable motor

Im really lost

All in all you do not need it, spend money else where. No reason to be lost..

As I mentioned before while the theory sounds good, they have proven to be troublesome for alot of people.

Alot of people have snapped the crank snout off using that type of balancer.

That is the reason you don't see them used alot in racing applications.

The sudden on and off of the throttle is no match for the fluid inside.

From ATI's site.

"Viscous fluid dampers are sealed and you don’t know you have problem until it’s too late. The inertia weight can become fixed (locked) by bearing failure or, more commonly, from the silicone turning to a solid mass. Your first warning of damper failure will probably be a broken crankshaft resulting in the replacement of your damper AND the engine. Viscous fluid dampers are not only ineffective but are actually detrimental at high RPM's."
ATI Damper Technology

It's for you to decide but you don't see them used in Nascar or NHRA.

In fact I have heard they were band for use in Nascar but not sure how to confirm that.

OK , I can get the ATI for 210$ go or no go ?
consedring the next

this motor will be NA for a while so 500~550 flywheel hp

and in a year Ill get into the 700 and grow to about a 1000 finaly using a turbo kit.

the concept behind the dampers is different from harmonic balanncers

the balancers are used with non-internal balanced motors, while the dampers are used with all motors to decrease or eliminate the vibrations , these vibs have a peak @ a certin RPM typicly 5000~RPMs wich harm the engine the most.

I know alot of guys here don't run them , but I really want to protecet my investment in the motor in any way possible, I wouldent hold off 200-400$ if its gonna make it safer for the 5000$+ motor.

not to mention I lost a 408ci short block already in less thean 530 miles

I think you are over thinking it, you are not building a 7K+ rpm race motor. Run what you have, it should be just fine.

If I am not mistaken the ATI is rebuildable while the Fluidampner is not, so if you bump it, drop it, or what not it's junk.

The factory balancer on these cranks has been sufficient for most stuff. If you want to invest in something buy something that can be serviced.

Your bearing issue was due to the machined crank tolerances. they are usually out of tolerance toward the out side edge of the journal. Although it is not often discussed it is common. A lot of those cranks are manufactured and finished ground in china. There brought here, inspected, and re packaged. Some companies do additional machine work and add there mark's to identify it as there own specific product.
