Default Engine mods

Hello I am new to this forum and hope some of you guys can give me some input. I have a 2003 H2 and was gonna supercharge or twin turbo it, but would rather do heads, cam, etc. Can anyone give me a good combination for overall quickness and torque. I tow a trailer and boat often. Not concerned really at all with noise or much worse mpg. I have basically all the bolt ons and just ordered supermaxx lt headers.

Thanks,
Tim

I would get it tuned and get a supercharger. Since you tow alot i wouldnt want a big cam which will require a higher stalled converter. You want hp and torque whenever you need it throughout from idle to w/e. From what iv read about a radix they design it for stock engines. Just my $.02

Jeez, Tim, why didn't you pick something a little more aerodynamically-challenged to try making it faster?

Don't need it for a sportscar. I just want it to be a little sportier. I have a Tahoe that is fixed up and it bothers me that the H2 is so much slower.

I think it might be that 6400 lb curb weight that is slowing it down......

As stated above, if you want good towing power and lots of low end torque a big cam is not the way to go. Look into a supercharger or a pair of small turbos that will spool quickly.

I am guessing all of the above but that can all be changed. Think I may start with heads, cam, inake combo. Then if that isn't enough I may go for sc. I have been told that the sc may cause alot of unwanted heat in the engine compartment, which I'd rather avoid.

It heats up your intake air temps (as does any FI), but as far as underhood temps it shouldn't be a significant change.....

If you want to make the Hummer a much better vehicle, look into a Radix supercharger. Its one modification that will make the biggest difference. Even with heads, cam, headers, full exhaust, etc... you won't make near as much torque as the Radix would give and would be hard pressed to make as much top end HP either. You'd be sacrificing what little low end grunt you have for upper rpm power. You need to find someone with a Radix that will let you drive their vehicle, then you'll understand.

That is what my original plan was but I have been told many times that it's not good to tow with a sc. So that's when I decided may heads, etc. Changing to aluminum radiator, dual electric fans, and 160 thermostat this weekend. Maybe that will help with the cooling.

Thanks,
Tim
