Default Dynoed my 427ci Truck

427ci (4.125" stroke x 4.060" bore)
TR224 camshaft
TFS215 heads
Truck intake and DBW intake
K&N CAI
Pacesetters LT Headers
PS ORY pipe with 3" tailpipe and 3" flowmaster
4L60E with transgo and stock TC
Stock clutch cooling fan

400rwhp/450rwtq
13 AFR on dynojet with no load

Is it too low for the combo? HP curve peaks at 5500rpm.

It pulls so hard. It breaks tires loose from a roll in 2nd gear all the way into 3rd and continues to pull hard.

I think they are low in my opinion.

Intake might be choking it.
Flowmaster could be restricting exhaust.
Clutch fan could be robbing a little HP.
Some people might say the camshaft is small..ish, but I bet its pretty "torquey"

I do like the fact that you are using the stock TC.

I think there is more in your setup though.

Yeah, what Coban said, plus with a 427 even the 215cc heads might be holding you back as well. That's hard to say until you "weed out" the other restrictions. I bet that thing is "torquey", though & fun.

i would say a 224 cam in a 427 is WAY under cammed

Low IMO. install a cutout in the exhaust and get a bigger cam. Who tuned it?

My goal was low end torque and I think I got that.

I had the heads and cam from my old previous motor, so, had to use them. I don't plan to rev more than 6000 RPM, so, I wanted to keep stock intake.

Was going to install vindicator camshaft 240/244, used from an old motor but one cam lobe was worn out.

Next will be to put back electric fan, had to remove it because of burned elec fan motor.

I plan on swapping to magnaflow in place of the flowmaster.

Might get a TC because the truck shakes in 3rd and 4th crusing at 2000 rpm! Anyone have an idea why it does that. It didn't do it with same cam and previous 5.7L motor!

Tuning was done by a local dyno shop. There was some knocking at WOT on the street and he had to reduce timing by 2 degrees then we checked on the street again and there was no knocking at all but we didn't put it back on the dyno.

I felt it did hesitate a little at part throttle but when it starts revving, it is gone.

Numbers arent bad, but not good either. There is plenty left in the motor, it just needs to breathe better. Your intake is killing it.

My Boss' 383 GTO ran good with the 78mm throttle body, but was a whole other animal once we got the 90mm TB and intake done.

So, you think I should invest in an intake and TB. What intake/TB for DBW?

Is it worth getting different heads and cam?

I was hoping for around 450rwhp/500rwtq but the performance that I got compared to my previous h/c 5.7L is day and night difference.

What size injectors are you running? What does the IDC look like? Flow-bastard is probably constricting you a bit as others have stated. What does your MAF say, how's your MAP (vacuum present?) at full throttle?

Injectors are 42# Ford Motor Sport. Duty cycle is in the 60s.

Not sure about MAF and MAP. I have to ask my tuner. Could the stock MAF be a restriction. Stock MAF is descreened.
