Question Corvette Cam From C5 Into My 1999 5.3 Vortec

I want to install a 2002 C5 corvette cam into my 1999 5.3 vortec (4x4 sierra)
will this cam be a direct swap or will i need to install different valve springs due to the difference in lift, any problems with piston to valve clearance. Heck will it fit ,, if so any known issues?

Thanks, Is it necessary to change the valve springs? It's Red on Black 6" lift 4x4 Extended Cab 1/2 ton. I took the stock Sierra and gave it the attitude it deserved from the factory. I have it Chipped with a Cold Air Intake. complete dual exhaust. now it's onto the internal parts of the engine. Do you have any idea how much of a power adder this cam will be?

the cam itself wont do anything without ditchin the chip and getting a custom tune

many of these guys over here will help ya ------------------>

i use wheatley and he is a great guy and does a great job. you can probably sell that chip for enough to pay for it too!!! with the tune its self you will see a difference plus the cam is a possible maybe 25 hp or so. the springs will need to be changed also! the lift on the stockers is to little to handle this cam. you can pickup a set cheap. look in parts classified and you should see atleast one set for sale. i got mine for 50 bucks!!

Good Question, I know the compression ratio is different, the cam, ecm and exhaust, what makes that vette engine so powerful? Short of putting a complete engine out of a vette in it, what will i have yto do to acheive that 400 + HP range?

for starters its 6.0 or 5.7 im not sure but its bigger than a 5.3 the heads are different, and a whole bunch of chit lol. (im not positive on what all it is) as for 400hp there are several ways you can do that. turbo supercharged nitrous internal engine work like boring and headwork n all that good stuff (not much of an internals guy on the motor) just search around plenty of people are runnin over 400hp on here!

Longtubes, intake, exhaust, cam, and a custom tune will get you that at the flywheel, to the wheels is a different story.

Spend some time looking at different setups on here, do some searches, the answers are out there

What year is the cam from and what engine? LS1 or LS6. A stock LS1 cam isn't going to get much over a stock 99' 5.3L cam.
