Congrats, now what do we think it was, the cam dropping of the bearing and getting hung up. If it was getting pulled out it woudln't be a lifter, so wht did this tool make the difference (from the guy about to do this same mod)?

I think it was because there was a reassurance that the "proper" tool for the job. The tool was manufactured for that purpose so it caused a sense of security. Indeed i think that the cam was just getting hung up but i guess it is better to be safe than sorry.

We probably gave up on the dowels a little soon, but we kept hitting lifters when we spun the cam. All I can say is the tool fits so well that there wasn't any doubt that you got it right. After the tools were in, the cam spun freely. From reading the replies to this thread, it seems to go a little different for everybody. If you try the dowels, I would read up on how people modified them because we didn't change them and it didn't work. Another good thing about the tool is, you got some1 u can call to ask a question. Really though, you can find all the answers here! I still have to wait til saturday to fire it up! No friggen time man!
