You really want a BIG cam, huh?
I am running a 224 114lsa +4 in my 5.3HO and I dont think I'd want to go larger (yet ). Sometimes (not often ) bigger is not better.

What means do you have of tuning? Just mail order? How high are you willing spin it?

I'm willing to bet, that with that cam, that thing won't make much power below 4000rpm. That's fine, as long as you know that going in and you plan the rest of the truck accordingly. Translation: You're going to need a higher stalling converter.

BTW, are you coming to the GTG saturday at Fountain Hills? Check out the Western section here. I'll be there and you'll be able to hear how hard my ****-ant cam lopes and it has nowhere near the overlap that the 226 does.

if you choose that cam, be sure to choose a good tune and pretty high converter to go with it...like all at the same time...you wouldnt want to have a big cam and still be a turd because you dont have the other components to support it...im going with the tr224 in my 5.3l and so remember that that is a big cam for your truck like previously said, bigger isnt always better...with cams at least

All I have is mail order... Dont really know anywhere that can tune it... $250 for the cam... So my best bet would be the TR224 with 112 LSA or 114 LSA? I dont wanna have to change my converter.... Not hard as you know but... time consuming... Turning high RPMs wont bother me as long as the bottom can take it... I am just sick of my ricer friends guttin their cars out and being able to beat me after... Any race I loose its always on top end... Ill be ahead 1st and all the way though second.. Then theyll catch me in 3rd.. They cant get with NOS though..lol Anyways.. Gonna try to see if anyone is selling a TR224 or anything equal to that... If not.. gonna order it from Thunder..

what if he advanced the cam. i mean if the cam is a good price its hard to pass up. a little n20 to get off the line and he would have great top end. if he can get it tune well enough. and if he ever did a motor swap he would have good cam and wouldn't have to get another.
