So bottom line is you put in an aftermarket cam, unplugged the cam phaser for the VVT, and kept the stock timing chain? Did you use a different timing cover.

Sorry I just realized the 5.3 liter didn't come with VVT. Has anybody swapped a cam in the NBS 2007 6.0 engines?

If you are doing a cam swap in a 07+ 5.3 you will need a three bolt cam sprocket with the correct 4x sensor "bumps" the ls2 one for example and you will want to get rid of the dod lifters. The heads will have to come off to replace lifters so get u 4 ls2 lifter trays or 2 depending on milage and ls7 lifters a ls2 timing cover a 07+ 4.8 valley cover and bam reassemble. If you plan on any other mods like boost or n2o get some ls9 head gaskets and arp bolts or head studs and that will take you wherever you want to go. Expensive maybe but if you are putting in a cam with the dod lifters your chancing the risk of lifter failure. DOD is turned off in the tune and VVT as well.

Here is a list for dod delete
