Default Cam swap on '07 5.3L...

I've done several cam swaps on LS1's and pre '07 5.3L trucks, but I've heard there is something different about the cam in the new trucks. I'm not sure exactly what it is (some type of sprocket?), and I'm wondering if anyone knows what exactly I'd have to do differently to do a cam swap on one of these newer engines? Any help would be appreciated.

there is no VVT on the 5.3L. A cam swap on an 07 would be the same as an LS2.

Nobody has really reported on how the AFM (cylinder deactivation) effects the cam though. You can always turn that off in programming though.

Are we talking 07 Classic or 07 NBS? Flex fuel optioned? What needs to be determined is if the truck comes with DOD (displacement on demand). Although I have not been able to confirm this yet... my understanding is that the 4 cylinders that are deactivated have different lobe profiles on the cam that are optimized for the different lifters used for those cylinders. Has anybody here done a cam swap on a DOD motor?
Also there are GENIV motors coming out of GM now with a single large bolt to secure the cam sprocket to the cam... instead of the 3 bolt setup. I have not checked into it but I wonder if the aftermarket is up to speed on the new cam cores. Otherwise a swap to the 4X trigger 3 bolt cam sprocket should work so that a "standard" core cam could be used.

DOD engines have different cam lobe profiles on the 4 cylinders that turn off, with different lifters. Normal cams will not work.

Theres still some debate as to how easy it would be to put in a normal cam, with normal lifters and remove all the DOD stuff...

have you tried? It has been confirmed that the profiles are slightly different on 4 of the cylinders, but has anyone actually put in a normal aftermarket camshaft to see what happens?

or did you just say it wont work because you don't think it will?

everything is the same u just need the sproket from and 07 z06 ....the sproket on the 07 is a 1 bolt and the z06 one is has the 3 holes for the cam..also with the original spoket u cant make it stay on iven with tunning... nothing gets affected with flex fuel or anything the only problem is that sproket ...the part number for the spoket is: part number: 12586481 and that is it ..
