I just degreed mine last weekend. Came in spot on at 111.3 ICL with the hex-a-just single roller timing set.

When are those Speed Engineering LT headers you mentioned going to be available?

What fuel do you have it tuned for? Do you have an idle video?

because with a 3.42 gear, 30" tall tire, and 1 piece stock driveshaft the chance of blowing the driveshaft in half for excessive critical speed is almost certain at 6000rpm in 3rd gear

I've seen it happen to every single short/wide I've watched try to dyno in 3rd

My Chevelle had the same incident on a dyno. Before you just assume "well if I break a driveshaft I will get a good one then": it busted a brand new built 4l60e case in 3 places and ruined some internals, put several fist sized holes on my floorpan, ripped the exhaust off the car, bent the rear end pinion yoke, and resulted in a wasted 3.5 hour drive to OKC for the tune. Of course the car was driven there so then I had to pay my brother to drive his truck up there and rent a uhaul trailer to get the car home.

Not having a $240 driveshaft made (or dyno the car in 2nd gear instead on the driveshaft I had) cost me in the neighborhood of $1200-1400. Me and my dad built the trans, if it had been purchased it would have been over double that amount.

Nice broad power band! I had the same mindset when I pulled the trigger for my ext cab and went with the vinci 210/218 on a 116lsa for low end tq and mpg gains. I haven't had it dynoed since the cam swap, but man does it make a night and day difference down low over my stock cam/LT tune setup. Never have to go past 1/3 throttle unless I want to lol

Great read, big thanks to the OP for doing the work and posting the results. I was looking for a cam like this a few months ago, didn't know about this then - I assume it's relatively new. I ended up with a TPiS ZL10 cam.

I may have to try and convince my father to do this swap when I see him later today. (2000 GMC RCSB with a newer 5.3)

Like mentioned, big thanks for doing such an in-depth review. I am considering either this cam, or there smaller stage 1 for my tiny DD 4.8.

Thanks guys, I spend more time on tech than here.

If I ever get a chance to get and install the headers I will update the gains again.

I have still been monitoring my fuel mileage when I can. Overall averages the differences are negligible. Highway might be slightly better than before and in town might be down just a bit (.5 mpg or less) but that could be due to me playing with it a little more...I find myself rolling into the throttle a little more often for fun.

They quit producing the yellow springs and they were good for a 0.550 max. The blue springs are the replacement model and good for a 0.570 max.
