Comp Is know to use the cheapest cores in the industry. This is usually why their cams fail even when you use all comp products.
Those cores were not suitable for roller lifters. Ironically they have blamed everything other than the material they ground them on.

Brian Tooley has been around for ages and he wouldn't risk his company by putting **** cams out there. Go on over to LS1 tech, his cams are super popular. Usually with his drop in truck cams you run a stock LS6 valve spring that is easy on the cam, the lift and aggressiveness of the lobes isn't as high either so everything stays pretty happy with those cams.
I wouldn't hesitate at all to use one of his cams.
Comp cams has been having trouble left and right with their cams, point is you can also pay top dollar and have the best cores and still have a rash of issues.
I would be shocked if you had an issue with a BTR grind.
If for some reason you still aren't comfortable, go with cam motion or texas speed.

i've just read about some of the problems over the years with Comp using cheaper core material & was looking to see if anybody'd had any similar experiences with these yet, considering they're still new & ain't had time for word to really become common knowledge on the street yet.
... who knows; maybe i'll just be the guy 20k miles from now reassuring other dudes that it'll be fine. and that's my hope.

yeah, as i said above, i believe the same about BTR. my concern was because the version with the 1050 core is the one that already got put in my truck (i was expecting the standard one). if i remember right, Cam Motion grinds BTR's stuff anyway.

LOL you may be!
I would sure think that BTR had already considered the core material pros/cons before they decided to use it, if they gave it the go ahead, I would too. I'm on LS1 tech a lot and I haven't seen a single complaint about any cams except comp cams. And again, they have a finishing issue.
We're all guessing though, have you considered just giving BTR a call and talking to them so you aren't so worried about it? Then tell us what they said
