looks like I gotta build this motor first and dyno it to see my hp and torque for the spec chart on circle d converter build. been told its best to got a stall that stalls before highway cruise but after the cam stall point. does that sound correct? some old dude told me this the other day at the shop had a nice 70 short wide 60swapped.

PI,Circle D, Yank. That used to be the case but a converter on a modern vehicle locks up so doesn't matter anymore. I've had 2 PI's they were perfect and so was customer support. Been years ago though. The vendor will help you pick one with a dyno sheet. Have fun!

Those power and torque numbers are a ballpark figure when choosing a converter so you won't really need to have the engine dyno'd but of course the exact numbers are always better. When I bought my Circle-D online I got a quick e-mail from Chris asking me specifics like gearing, tire size, vehicle weight, power & torque etc.

Call up one of the converter companies listed above and they will be able to answer any questions to get you fixed up. Also remember it usually takes about two weeks to build a converter as they are built vehicle specific... unless you buy an off the shelf converter like B&M which is not recommended.
