I just looked at my slip it was 9.3 in 1/8 but it's a crewcab full weight Denali 5800lbs on factory 20's and no suspension mods. Changes are to come tho...
Coilovers, caltracs
Lower it to zero cv angles
4l80e with a d3 Trans brake from jakes
16"wheels and drag radials all 4 corners
200 shot nx direct port fogger off the brake
I also plan on removing everything I can unbolt easily for quick weight loss
Tailgate, spare tire, rear bumper and reciever, running boards, back seats and passenger seat.
I'm hoping to see a 5000lb race weight but will see.

Not impossible by any stretch of the imagination. Stock48 has taken his truck from multiple hour drives right off the street to the track and clicked off 9 second runs.

I was so ignorant thinking I could just take my truck to the track at run 7s immediately. It goes 94 mph in the 1/8 but there's zero traction off the line. No suspension mods for traction, just a flip kit in the rear with M&H 17" drag radials. I actually need to pay attention to the suspension, meaning I need to check my pinion angle. Also, I've read clamping the front portion of the overload to the other springs will help. Also, traction bars could help me too but that's another $400.

This is the honest truth. You read so much about guys making 9 second 1/4mile passes look easy, but there is so much effort that goes into things that goes unnoticed.

I still think you should be able to get 8.50's NA no problem though. I have a bone stock Lq9, bone stock 4L60e with a corvette servo and 40K cooler, 3.73 gears with factory G80, and a Black Bear 93 Oct. tune and I run 9-9.2ish with the only traction mod being 255/50/16 ET streets and yest I did spin for about the first 60 ft before it hooked. Up next is an aftermarket posi and traction bars for me.
I got there with a heavy Dodge Ram quad cab 5.7 Hemi. Ran 8.527 @ 79.80 on 26" tall 275/40R17" drag radials and 8.63 @ 80.xx on 305/50R20s at full street weight of 5,480 lbs + 260 lbs driver. Shouldn't be too hard to make a lighter more tuneable Chevy run those kind of numbers even if it only has a 5.3. I fought for traction in that truck on street tires and took the transmission out numerous times after cooking the clutches.

I also put a 2 wheel drive crew cab Titan on 20s full street trim with an open differential into the 8.90s without opening up the engine. I think long tubes, custom tuning, eaton trutrac, and weight reduction would have put that truck in the 8.50s-8.60s all day long.

If you actually get that thing to hook, I do not see that 4L60E living long at all.

Before you throw any more power at it, let's face the hard reality here. Your in a big *** heavy truck. The name of the game with us is TRACTION. Get the thing to hook and work the most efficiently with the power you make. Get it to 60 really well and you will have a runner. Some sort of traction device, some really good tires under it on the smallest lightest wheels you can find. Also, shocks, you need to control the vehicle as it launches. There are so many things that need to work together to get the most out of your setup. Those alone should keep you busy for a while. Most races are won in the first 60ft. Heck my setup has only netted me a 7.8 in the 1/8 with a 1.9 60 I have a lot of bugs to work out which has me chasing my tail but it takes a lot of testing and tuning to get there

it lasted until last month, haha , 80e is in.

my plans for the track are:

Hoosier 28x10-16

clamped leaf springs

I'm hoping for a low 8, really wanting a 7 sec pass. 90mph

truck is on e85 and 12psi now, it's fun to drive

Now it is where to start. And I agree 110% using the power I have I really want to get this thing out of the hole. Just got back from ennis 1/4 and the best time I had was 14.6 @92 I had faster speed but only was running 2.1 60ft 14.7 @95 I think that was the 60 ft time Where should I start. Tru trac ? Or shocks, tires caltrac ? I think the gears are 3.42.

I do feel a tranny coming for sure. I feel that is one of the down fall in my truck doesn't feel like it shift hard feels like it loses to much rpm in the shift. I have always felt like the truck was slower than others.
