6.0l DD cam
#1
Picked up a L76 for dirt cheap to put in my '12 Chev CCSB LTZ. Truck has 35s (next set will be 33s) and 4.56 gears. I have CAI, exhaust, and tune. I bought headers for the 5.3. Will the headers be too small? (ID 1-5/8" I believe) I will buy new if needed. I want to put a cam into the 6.0l before I drop it in the truck. I do tow so I'd like to retain stock converter. Looking for all round performance out of the cam. I am not opposed to keeping or getting rid of AFM/VVT. So if someone can help with a spec that would be great.
What will I expect for hp/tq numbers (at the crank). And just out of curiosity what could I expect to run if I ran it on the track on stock size rubber.

I bought a Comp cam 189-400-13
210/224 .556/.560 114 C/L for my 5.3 W/VVT
this is what comp picked for me. stock conv and i tow a 2 bike trailer
good all around power thru the whole curve with only a 3:42 rear

After some research I would rather delete AFM/VVT to eliminate the weak AFM lifters. My brother has a 07 crew cab 4 speed with a cammed L76, comp cam 223/231 .610 .617 on 112. Hes on 33s and 4.30s. I don't mind the way his drives but wouldn't mind something different that I could beat him on the street with!

He was on TBSS converter, towed with it once and cooked it. So now he's back on stock. I would put a converter long as I can be confident pulling 5-7k here and there. I'd imagine I would need to run a big *** cooler if I went with a converter which is fine if I am going to see enough of a difference for the coin.

I mean for you almost all the performance lies in the converter to be honest... but you will run into huge issues towing with big *** tires. I'd put a giant cooler on there anyway just to be safe.
Towing is a game changer.

Ok. Thanks for the advice. I pulled a 6k lb enclosed trailer through the mountains in the winter and the truck did really well on 33s and 4.56s. Tranny stayed cool in the colder weather. But summer heat I could see problems. Definitely going a lighter 33 for my next set. What could I realistically tow spending money on a good converter with say a 26-2800 stall and putting a cooler. With say something close to the spec above. (214-222 on 114 4* advance)
