Default 5.3L Cam Questions.

I have a MS4 cam from Texas Speed. It is a 239/242, .649"/.609" with a 111 LSA. I wanna run this is a 5.3L with head work of course. I am getting the springs and retainers and everything from Texas Speed also, but wanted to know if anyone else has put this cam into a 5.3L so I know what Im getting myself into. Thanks for all the help yall.

I put a MS3 in a 5.3 before, . . . but not quite as much duration/lift as the MS4

. . . it sounded good . . .

I know its gonna sound good, but I needed to know if PTV clearance is going to be an issue with the stock 5.3L bottom end. I was told it was in the LS1 but I believe the LS1 has flat top pistons and Im pretty sure the 5.3L has dished pistons, so will i have any issues with it?

If it has worked in a ls1 it should work in the 5.3. 5.3's have flat tops also, the 4.8's are the dished ones, the deck heights are the same as a ls1 IIRC... It will just be a bit of a pig to tune, unless your running a huge verter..

He's right John. The 4.8 and the 5.3 L33 share flat top pistons.

I'm pretty sure that it'll work . . . but what are your goals for this setup? The power band for this cam is 3400 - 7200 . . . you're going to need more than good heads to run it . . . built trans, big stall, 4.10, better than stock truck intake, bigger injectors . . . the list goes on
